My story so far
I am one of the many who wanted to move to Helsinki to study and make their dreams come true. As a 19-year-old student, I moved to Meilahti with two friends. There was a sign ”The Club” on the door of our collective housing. I studied French at university while studying for the business school entrance exam. I have always worked alongside my studies. Starting in high school, I mainly worked at a fast-food restaurant. Later I worked as a market analyst in Helsinki and Toronto. I have lived in different parts of Helsinki but for the longest period in Kallio.
14 years ago I stood as a candidate for the municipal council and was elected. People, society and its future have always interested me, but I had not been involved in political youth organizations. In the council and the town planning committee, I defended urban planning, e.g. preservation of forests and preservation of valuable architectural heritage. In addition, I have pushed the issue of developing new, more open decision-making in the municipality.
I started my research work at the Department of Production Economics at the Technical University, now Aalto University. With my firstborn, I got to know the city’s playgrounds, the existence of which I had barely noticed before. Skating rinks, the Stadikka swimming pool and libraries are the city’s gems. The best thing about Helsinki is above all the nature and the sea near the city, for example, Töölönlahti, Central Park, Seurasaari and Mustikkamaa.
Thanks to your solid trust, I was able to start working as a Member of Parliament. I work as a member of the finance committee and the future committee. The mandate period has been extremely interesting and challenging but very rewarding! I have done my utmost to push the issues I believe in.
